4th August 2011 – The Ministry of Higher Education has  approved the offering of a brand new programme which is in a brand new category of its own - namely Engineering Technology. The programme – Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Technology (Honours) (Industrial Biotechnology) – will be offered by Universiti Malaysia Perlis for the first time in the 2011/2012 academic session starting this September. With the addition of this new programme, UniMAP will now be offering a total of 24 undergraduate programmes – 21 B. Engineering programmes, two B. Business programmes, and one B. Chem. Eng. Tech. programme.
Engineering Technology has been earmarked as a category of new programmes that aim to better fulfil Malaysia’s hunger for application-oriented and highly qualified workers (called ‘engineering technologists’).
The Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Technology (Honours) (Industrial Biotechnology) has been designed in accordance to the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) guideline. Students need to fulfil 140 credits in order to graduate.
